MINSTER — Nidec Press & Automation, the parent company of Nidec Minster, has acquired German-based manufacturing company Systeme and Steuerunge and Die Peripherie Anlagen, which produce automation machinery and technology.

The acquisition expands Nidec Press & Automation’s global presence, which includes production facilities and service centers in Minster and St. Marys, Ohio; Peiting, Germany; Ningbo, China; Kyoto, Japan; Navarrete, Spain; and Querétaro, Mexico, according to a company press release.

“This acquisition not only compliments our current products but will also allow us to offer a wider array of technology and services and increase our global presence,” CEO David Winch said in a statement announcing the acquisition.

The company has no immediate plans to alter production or management structure at its newly-acquired German plants, according to Winch. No changes are expected at the facilities in Minster or St. Marys at this time, either.

“At the present time, the acquisition will not affect production or employment levels at the Nidec Minster facility in Minster,” said Dave Stilwell, marketing specialist at Nidec Minster. Stilwell said the same is true of the St. Marys facility.

Nidec Minster manufactures mid-range tonnage and high performance mechanical and servo presses, while the St. Marys facility specializes in press repair.
