LIMA — Pregnant women and children with developmental needs in Allen County recently benefited from a $138,600 federal grant from Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center.
Mercy Health-St. Vincent in Toledo was awarded the grant from the Ohio Department of Health. The grant was apart of a $7 million grant from the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program through the Health Resources and Services Administration.
“Research shows that evidenced-based home visiting improves birth outcomes and can help reduce infant mortality,” said ODH Director Lance Himes in a news release. “These home visits also help improve maternal and child health, prevent child abuse and neglect, and connect families with needed supports and resources in their communities.”
