CELINA — The 10th annual Gala benefiting Grand Lake Hospice was held April 21 with more than 300 guests in attendance. More than $70,000 was raised to benefit programs operated by the agency.

This year’s Gala, The Emerald Ball, was made possible by four-time Presenting Sponsor 3Rivers Federal Credit Union and included a whimsical and elegant Wizard of Oz type of experience.

Guests were able to bid on more than 98 items through live and silent auctions.

Funds raised from the event are used to provide quality hospice care and services to patients and families beyond what Medicare and commercial insurances will cover.

Due to the community’s support, Grand Lake Hospice is able to provide pastoral counseling, the Healing Memories Bereavement Support program, a massage therapist, a volunteer coordinator, a music therapist, Stargazer therapy, and the Comfort Suite. These funds also ensure that anyone who qualifies for this specialized care can receive it, regardless of their ability to pay, said Linda Haines, executive director of the JTD Hospital Foundation.
