PAULDING — The Operation Round Up board recently awarded nearly $10,000 to area agencies dedicated to making an impact on the lives of residents in this region. Operation Round Up is a program that allows members of Paulding Putnam Electric Co-op to have the option to round up their utility bills to the nearest dollar every month, with those extra few cents going to benefit people in need within the co-op’s service territory.
The following grants were approved by the board: Friends of First Responders, $800; Hands of Hope Pregnancy, $1,000; Kalida Fire Department, $3,146; Paulding County Cancer Survivor Support Dinner, $1,000; Antwerp Local Schools, $750; United Way of Putnam County, $600; Grover Hill Lions Club, Welcome Park, $1,000; Van Wert County EMA/CERT, $500; and Antwerp Library, $800.
Paulding Putnam Electric Co-op began doing Operation Round Up in July 2010. Currently, more than 8,700 of the co-op’s 12,900 members participate, and to date local charities have received over $350,000.
