Wapakoneta stores share warmth with less fortunate

WAPAKONETA — This year, several Wapakoneta stores have partnered together for Warming Wapak, where they will be collecting winter gear in hopes of keeping people warm.

Casa Chic, Dad’s Toy Shops, Auglaize Antique Mall, Thrifty Treasures, Marley’s Downtown, J. Marie’s Wood-Fired Kitchen and Drinks, Wonderfully Made Boutique, Hanes Florist LLC, Village Green Garden Center Co. and Rovals Antiques are some of the participating shops.

The stores are collecting hats, gloves and mittens, coats and scarves from Friday to Saturday. Donations can be dropped off during store hours at any of the participating shops. The items will be donated to Mercy Unlimited Inc. and God’s Storehouse.

“We thought that it was a very important thing to do right after the Christmas season and the New Year when its so terribly cold,” said Landa Tonlinson, a partner at Casa Chic. “We just know that there are people in need that are certainly could use some things to keep warm.”
