Informational session planned for youth advocates

LIMA — The Court Appointed Special Advocate program of Crime Victim Services will hold an information session from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 30 via Facebook Live on its page, casaoflima.

A CASA volunteer is a trained community member, appointed by a judge, to speak up for the best interests of an abused or neglected child. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, complete an application and interview as well as pass a background check. Additionally, they must undergo 35 hours of training prior to certification. In a few weeks, it is possible to become an advocate for a child in need. Summer class will be held in-person Monday through Friday, July 18 through July 29.
