VAN WERT — Projects involving multiple historic buildings in Van Wert’s downtown will receive Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits to help with their rehabilitation, according to a Wednesday release from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s office.
A nearly $1.9-million standalone project rehabilitating 111 W. Main St. will receive a tax credit of $185,000. A $1.8-million project at 135 E. Main St. will receive a $175,000 tax credit and a $12.2-million project covering four mixed-use downtown buildings will receive a $1.2 million tax credit. Each of these projects is part of a greater effort to revitalize Van Wert’s downtown.
The tax credit program will award a total of nearly $40 million statewide helping to rehabilitate 38 historic buildings covering 19 communities in 16 counties.
