Verb’s contribution to Webb telescope discussed at Lima Astronomical Society set for Feb. 4

LIMA — Robert Verb will present a multimedia program on his involvement in the processes and engineering of the beryllium mirror segments of the $10 billion James Webb space telescope during the Friday, Feb. 4 meeting of the Lima Astronomical Society.

The meeting begins at 8 p.m. at Schoonover Observatory, located in Schoonover Park at 670 N. Jefferson St., Lima.

Verb is a retired U.S. Army officer and engineering graduate of the University of Toledo. He was responsible for providing the correct chemical mixture, processing the material, and follow-up through the machining and shipping of the beryllium mirrors to NASA.
