Case backlog to be cleared over next several days

• A backlog of positive COVID-19 test results reported to the Ohio Department of Health will be released over the next several days, artificially inflating daily case totals. The cases were previously unreported due to the unprecedented volume of test results being processed each day.

Fourteen new deaths reported in region

• There were 14 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the five-county region reported by the Ohio Department of Health on Friday, including seven in Allen County.

In addition, Allen County Public Health has learned of five new deaths in the past seven days: A 48-year-old man who died Jan. 10; a 70 year-old man and 76-year-old woman who died Jan. 11; a 67-year-old woman who died Jan. 12; and a 79-year-old woman who died Jan. 13. A delay in reporting between local health departments and the Ohio Department of Health means some of these deaths may not appear in the ODH dashboard yet.
