COLUMBUS — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Tuesday announced more than $3.6 million in funding to reduce violence against women in Ohio. Recipients in Allen and Van Wert counties shared in that windfall.
The federal Violence Against Women Act grant program assists local governments and non-profit community organizations in administering justice for and strengthening services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
In total, 143 grants were awarded to 101 local agencies in 46 counties statewide.
The Crossroads Crisis Center of Allen County was awarded three separate grants totaling $54,479 and the Van Wert County YMCA received $25,000.
