LIMA — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper John S. Sanders-Tirado has been selected as the 2021 Trooper of the Year at the Lima post.
The selection of Trooper Sanders-Tirado, 29, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2021 at the Lima Post. Fellow officers stationed at the post chose Trooper Sanders-Tirado based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public, according to post commander Lt. Alec Coil.
Trooper Sanders-Tirado is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.
Sanders-Tirado joined the Patrol in 2017 and has served at the Lima post since that time. Originally from Lima, he graduated from Findlay High School and attended the University of Findlay prior to joining the patrol. He has been awarded the Criminal Patrol Ribbon on two occasions, along with Safe Driving and Fitness ribbons.
Sanders-Tirado and his wife, Darian, live in Findlay with their children, Weston and Vivian.
