Bomb threat sent via email to PPG Coatings Services

LIMA — A bomb threat sent via email Tuesday morning by what was described as a recently terminated employee at PPG Coatings Services led to a temporary evacuation of the business, located at 1340 Neubrecht Road.

Major Andre McConnahea said the Allen County Sheriff’s Office was notified by PPG’s private security of a threat “to blow up the factory.” The Allen County bomb squad was put on standby but did not respond to the scene, McConnahea said.

Company officials cleared the plant and searched the premises following the threat, but no suspicious devices were located, a sheriff’s office spokesman said. Extra security has been added at the plant. A joint investigation is underway involving the sheriff’s office detective bureau and PPG security forces.

Phone calls to the company went unanswered Wednesday morning.
