LIMA — Loren N. Howden, 16, of Lima is one lucky young woman. She was gifted this 1966 Chevy Stepside C 10 from her dad on her 16th birthday. The truck was brought to the Downtown Lima, Inc. Car Show and BBQ, held at the Allen County Children Services parking lot.

“I’ve owned it for 20 years and built it the last three years,” said Lorne Howden, Loren’s dad.

The truck was finished in time for Loren’s birthday, and what better gift to get.

The Chevy C10 featured the same styling as the 1965 model pickup trucks. During the 1966 model year Chevrolet sold its 10-millionth truck. Chevrolet was proud of the success of their trucks and even put that in their print advertising.

“America’s most popular pickup is built for bigger things in ‘66,” read the advertisement. It further states, “here comes the pickup that people use most, and it’s even more usable for ‘66!”

“It’s exciting. It gave me a love for cars. I get to clean it and detail it,” said Loren.

She will take pleasure in driving the truck when she is able.

“I don’t have my license yet,” she said.

Her father painted the truck turquoise and Charger gray.
