LIMA — United Way of Greater Lima will benefit from a rivalry between Shawnee and Elida schools.
Students at those schools will be raising money beginning Oct. 16 through T-shirt sales, penny wars and other fun activities for United Way, leading up to the Oct. 22 game between Shawnee and Elida.
The fundraiser is part of the United Way’s larger Rivals United Campaign.
Area businesses will also be involved by selling school-themed products.
Those businesses include Sara’s Sweets, Shirley’s Popcorn, Dash & Joey’s and Level Up Shawnee.
Whichever school raises the most money at the end of the Rivals United event will be named the Rivals United winner and be eligible to receive a traveling trophy that is awarded to the overall Rivals United winning school.
