LIMA — Blue Bell Boutique has moved from Cridersville to a new location at 2419 Elida Road, Lima.

The business opened on Saturday, and the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed it Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We were in Cridersville for the last year, and we met amazing people there. But we are super excited to be in Lima and see where it takes us,” said Sarah Shaw, owner of Blue Bell Boutique.

Starting the business actually gave her something to do.

“I started it because I was bored because my husband (Eric) was working nights. I just wanted something that people could spend their time and shop with us and interact with us and (look at) cute clothes people could afford that make them feel good about themselves. So that’s where we came from,” Shaw said.

Sarah admits she doesn’t have a background in retail.

“I was a server for seven years at (Texas) Roadhouse, and I went to school for social work, so I had no background,” Shaw said.

But she is getting plenty of help running the business.

“We have a really good support system with my husband and friends and family and amazing shoppers. So we got a good support group behind us,” Shaw said.

Shaw says she hopes to branch out and offer men’s clothing as well as a kids line.

“We offer women’s clothing — small through 3x, and jeans (size) zero to 24. We have a few men’s shoes, but right now it’s just all women’s. We have shoes, some little home good stuff, a little bit of everything,” Shaw said.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce president/CEO Jed Metzger provided encouragement to Shaw.

“I think it’s an opportunity, another asset here in Lima, Ohio, another venue that people can come and shop,” Metzger said. “With your vision and that, I think it’s going to be a great store and a great opportunity for a lot people that want something different. We wish you the best of success and are prepared to help support you grow.”

Blue Bell Boutique is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
