LIMA — Lima native Ashley Hardy is living the dream as she starts her own business, La Femme Wax & Skin at 130 W. Northern Ave., Lima.
On Wednesday, the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce welcomed her new business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Hardy started her path towards entrepreneurship by studying at the Studio Academy of Beauty in Phoenix, Arizona, and came back to Lima to graduate from Apollo Career Center in 2020.
“It’s scary — not going to lie — but I’m hopeful things are going to improve and get better. The demand is high for it, so all I can do is be hopeful for the future.”
Hardy has been open since the beginning of August and specializes in full body waxing and corrective skincare treatments.
“I also have suites that I rent out to other beauty professionals, other estheticians, lash technicians or nail technicians. I got a hair braider and a brow threader,” Hardy said.
She says the demand for these kinds of services has really taken off.
“I’m really happy and excited that it’s starting to get popular here. It’s gotten popular sometime in the last two years, but it’s really booming now,” Hardy said.
Hardy is hoping that in the next five years, her experience in Lima will take her to bigger places.
“I’m hoping to be somewhere on the West Coast, having like franchises of La Femme Wax & Skin,” she said.
