Celina woman joins Ohio’s ‘Saved by the Belt’ Club

WAPAKONETA — Debra Wenning, of Celina, was presented with a Saved by the Belt award by Ohio State Troopers from the Wapakoneta post.

The recognition comes after she was struck head-on by an impaired driver while driving on U.S. 33 east of St. Marys back in May. She was saved from sustaining life-threatening injuries because she was wearing her seat belt while driving.

The Saved by the Belt Club is a partnership between the Ohio Department of Public Safety and more than 400 law enforcement agencies across the state to recognize individuals who have benefited from wearing safety belts while driving.
