CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man was shot dead while helping another man push his overheated car Friday night, police said.

The victim has not been identified in the shooting that happened at 11 p.m. on Kinsman Road near East 121st Street, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

Police have made no arrests.

Officers were called for several shots fired in the area and then called to a driveway on East 121st Street, where they found the victim on the ground, she said.

Officers rendered first aid until paramedics arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man told investigators that his car overheated in the area where police were called. He was pushing his car when the victim walked up and offered to help while the man steered his car, Ciaccia said.

The man and victim got to East 121st Street just south of Kinsman Road when the man heard gunshots and ducked for cover, she said.

The man ran inside of a house, and another person came out of the house and found the victim in the driveway, Ciaccia said.

Bullets also struck a nearby home where the resident reported hearing bullets hit his home while he was watching TV. He was not injured.
