BLUFFTON — There’s a new store in Bluffton that provides a place for local craftspeople to sell their pieces.
Blended Roots at 242 E. Cherry St., Bluffton, held its grand opening on Saturday.
“It’s a consignment shop, full of handmade or refurbished items,” said Julia Keiser, store manager and part-owner. “Everything here has its own personal touch from different people, local and a bit of a distance away. We have some from Toledo as well.”
The response from merchants has been overwhelming and Keiser said they had to revise their business plans.
“We needed a bigger store. We had a large range of people reach out to us. We initially had a smaller building in mind in the Tommy Plaza so that was the original plan but we had an overwhelming response so we had to get a bigger building,” Keiser said.
The building used to house the Bluffton Mercantile store.
Keiser says they’re trying to make the best use of the space they have.
“We’re trying to fill it up a bit more. We’ve started hanging these pallets from the ceiling so we can hang some stuff up higher. Almost every display that has something on it is for sale. We’re trying to utilize every inch we can, so we can get as much of anybody’s creations in here,” Keiser said.
There’s also an area where kids can do their own crafts during certain times that should be available in about a month.
Providing an outlet for people to sell their creations is something that’s exciting to assistant manager Hayley Regan.
“I love how we have people from all over. We have a variety of things and it’s just really neat to see the things that people come up with,” Regan said.
“It’s pretty amazing and it’s really cool being able to see those sales going through and those creations going out the door as well because it’s been really cool seeing what people can create with their hands and what they come up with themselves. It’s amazing,” Keiser said.
Blended Roots is open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
