LIMA — The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s North West Ohio Safe Streets Task Force, executed residential search warrants in the evening hours of Sept. 11 and into the morning of Sept. 12 which resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of narcotics, weapons, currency and drug paraphernalia.

According to a statement released Friday by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, a narcotics-related search warrant was served at a residence at 765 S. Broadway Ave., Lima. Ronald W. Hesseling II, 40, of Lima, was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators then served a search warrant at 929 S. Atlantic Ave. where the target of the investigation, Eric L. Upthegrove Jr., 38, and his girlfriend, Nicoya S. Darby, 34, both of Lima, were taken into custody without incident.

During the search of both residences an automatic pill press, a mechanical pill press, thousands of pressed fentanyl pills weighing approximately 11 kilograms, 2.2 kilograms of bricked suspected fentanyl powder, suspected marijuana, suspected THC products, paraphernalia, three rifles, one shotgun, one handgun and one revolver were recovered. A total of $9,988 in U.S. currency was recovered as were two vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing with additional charges expected to be presented for consideration to a future session of the Allen County grand jury, according to the sheriff’s department.
