WAPAKONETA — The first ever Wapakoneta Craft Beer Festival was a rousing success. And it hasn’t even happened yet.
All 500 tickets to the inaugural festival were snapped up earlier this week, Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jackie Martell said Wednesday. It’s a statement, she said, to the popularity of independent breweries that have been popping up throughout the region.
Martell said the chamber was approached by the Auglaize County fair board about co-hosting a craft beer fest, primarily because no similar type of event is staged in the area.
“We were happy to partner with the fair board to celebrate this great industry,” Martell said.
The event will be held Saturday at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds in Wapakoneta and will feature unlimited tastings of more than 40 beer selections from more than a dozen craft breweries. Appetizers from local establishments are also included with the price of admission.
Tickets were sold online, including VIP tickets for $75, general admission tickets for $50 and designated driver tickets for $20. Included in the admission price are unlimited beer tastings, food, live music and raffle prizes.
VIP Admission is limited and includes an extra hour of unlimited beer tasting from 5-9 p.m. in a complimentary commemorative tasting glass, access to VIP ONLY specialty brews, appetizers and a commemorative T-shirt.
General admission tickets include unlimited beer tastings, a commemorative acrylic mug and appetizers from 6-9 p.m. Designated driver admission is from 5-9 p.m. and includes appetizers and water. All attendees must be at least 21 years of age and must show a valid photo I.D. at the door.
Appetizers included with admission are from J.Maries Wood-Fired Kitchen, Al’s Woody’s, The Side Rail, Moeller Brew Barn, Lucky Steer, Sweet Kicks Candies & Bakery, Tin Acre Gourmet Popcorn and Cassie’s Cupboard. A Buckland Acres Bistro food truck will also be there offering sausage sandwiches, burgers, sides and soft drinks for purchase.
Live music featuring Walking Boss will be included in the evening event.
The Wapakoneta Craft Beer Festival is sponsored by Autobahn Collision Center and Raines Management Group.
