LIMA — Lima Mayor David Berger declared the week of September 20 as first responders’ appreciation week with a proclamation at his press conference on Wednesday. He thanked the first responders for their work, especially for their response to drug overdose calls, for which the state of Ohio ranks fourth highest in the country.

“(I) urge all citizens to join in expressing their appreciation for all emergency responders involved in providing care to those who are abusing drugs and creating health crises for themselves, their families and loved ones,” Berger said. “I want to add my personal appreciation to all the men and women who are in uniform doing this work, but also the men and women who are in all walks of life who team with our first responders to deal with the crises that occur literally every day in our community.”

First Responders’ Appreciation Day is nationally recognized on October 28.
