OSP and Mercer County Sheriff to crack down on distracted driving


WAPAKONETA — The Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Mercer County Sheriff are cracking down on distracted drivers.

A portion of U.S. 33 in Mercer County has been identified as a temporary Distracted Driver corridor.

The corridor is a six-mile long stretch of U.S. 33 from U.S. 127 to state Route 197.

A review of crash data indicates there have been 88 crashes attributed to distracted driving since January 1, 2019 in Mercer County.

The increased enforcement zone will run from August 1 until September 30.
