Celina man dies after police chase


CELINA — A Celina man is dead after he crashed his vehicle into a house at 4001 Mud Pike Road Saturday morning.

According to a Celina Police Department news release, at 4:08 a.m. officers observed Chad R. Rammel, 33, run a stop sign on Brandon Avenue. An officer tried to pull him over for the violation but Rammel sped off at speeds in excess of 95 mph.

Officers discontinued the chase in compliance with department policy.

The Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that at 4:13 a.m. Rammel crashed his car at the Mud Pike Road address after striking a tree and a fence. It then overturned and struck an SUV parked in the driveway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the crash which remains under investigation.
