Tenderloin trailer considered total loss after fire

LIMA — A concession trailer gearing up for the Harrod Pork Rind Festival caught fire, completely destroying it.

The Perry Township Fire Department was called to the scene at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at 1808 St. Johns Ave.

The owner of the trailer plugged it in, it shorted, and it caught fire, said Perry Township Fire Department Chief Rick Phillips.

The tenderloin trailer “has a long history at the Allen County Fair,” Phillips said.

Though he couldn’t remember the name of the food vendor, he said the orange and black trailer is near the pony ride at the fair every year.

The trailer was insured for $18,000 and is considered a total loss, Phillips said. There were no reported injuries.

The home is registered to Jesse and Lavatis Morris, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website. The fire in the trailer did not cause any damage elsewhere.
