LIMA — A group of three children set a lawnmower on fire, causing little damage.
The incident was reported as at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at 233 W. Kibby St. as a small building fire, the Lima Fire Department said.
An old, rusty lawnmower was burning. The fire was put out before officers arrived.
After a brief investigation, officials discovered that three children set the mower on fire with lighter fluid and a lighter.
The children were “encouraged” to attend fire safety courses to correct their behavior.
About $50 in damage was caused to the garage and lawnmower, the fire department said.
The home is owned by Wilma D. Peterson and Jeffery K. Kirkman, of Lima, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website. The home is valued at $23,500.
