OEA condemns ‘divisive concepts’ bills

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Education Association on Tuesday condemned legislation under consideration by the Ohio General Assembly that would ban Ohio public schools from teaching divisive concepts. The Ohio House State and Local Government committee held hearings for House Bills 327 and 322 on Tuesday morning.

Ohio Education Association President Scott DiMauro in a statement described the bills as an effort to “white-out American history.”

“For our children to thrive and become critical thinkers,” he said, “we must trust Ohio’s dedicated educators to have age-appropriate conversations about the tough subjects, as they do every day in their classrooms now.”
