LIMA — A couple of Findlay natives are recognizing untapped business in downtown Lima.
Jarrod Bowman and his business partner, Monique Altvater, recently opened Phoenix Nutrition at 120 N. West St. in Lima.
“We just moved in about a week and a half ago,” Bowman said.
Bowman is excited about what Lima has to offer.
“For the most part, it’s an untapped market. What our business looks to do is to go into communities and bring an overall value of health and nutrition. So we’re trying to bring nutrition and fitness, trying to get people out of fast food restaurants and get them into here where we can get them served just as quick most of the time and with a healthy meal, rather than going to McDonald’s and getting whatever they would get there,” Bowman said.
You can buy the meal replacement shakes separately from the energy teas but you’ll save money by ordering a combo that includes both.
“The typical meal that we would have is you would have your shake, which is your meal itself. That is the content. It’s got your proteins, it’s got your carbs, it’s got your fibers, your sugars. It’s got everything in it that you would need in a meal. It basically makes your food pyramid and so that’s going to be what fills you up,” Bowman said. “We have energizing teas. They have caffeine in them, but they also have vitamins Bs one through 12 that help boost natural energy levels,” Bowman said.
The pair started a similar venture in the Findlay area.
“We have a shop back at home like this and we were able to take people out and show them a healthier way to lose weight instead of like a keto diet and we just wanted to be able to expand to a town that doesn’t have something like that yet,” Altvater said. “So we want to introduce it and hopefully, help people get a healthier diet down here in Lima as well.”
Both are pleased with the reception Phoenix Nutrition has gotten so far.
“It’s great,” Altvater said. “I love the people out here. They’ve been very friendly. We had Warren Pugsley from the fire department come out and he did a little video saying how good it was and we got a lot of people coming out now.”
“We’ve got a good amount of people out here. It’s been picking up every day. We’ve been out walking a lot, meeting new people and going to local businesses,” Bowman said.
Phoenix Nutrition is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
