Putnam County Common Pleas Court

A 58-year-old Ottawa man, indicted on rape, remains in jail on a $150,000 bond.

Jesus Tapia, Jr., 726 S. Oak St., Ottawa, was indicted May 12 by the Putnam County Grand Jury on one charge of rape, a felony of the first degree. He pleaded not guilty Thursday before Putnam County Common Pleas Judge Keith Schierloh and remains in the Putnam County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

According to court records, Tapia is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with another, not his spouse, whose age is less than 13 on March 21 in Putnam County. The victim is identified as John Doe, YOB 2008. The records further show Tapia had previously been convicted of violating the law that is substantially similar in Montgomery County Ohio Common Pleas Court in 2002.

Fred S. Paynter, 21, 608 Basinger Road, Pandora; improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug, or abuse or a combination of them.

Joe E. Brown, 49, 354 Spring St., Upper Sandusky; possession of cocaine.

Melissa J. Herrera, 40, 1030 E. 11th St., Ottawa; grand theft.

Celso G. Ramirez, 21, 7089 Road 22, Continental; failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug, or abuse or a combination of them.

James A. Wagler, 62, 118 Delaware Ave., Findlay; theft.

Tiffany A. Chasco, 33, 59 E. Liberty St., Leipsic; failure to provide notice of change of address.

Anthony Hutchinson, 1410 Westshore Drive, #6, Findlay; two counts nonsupport of dependents.

Nathaniel Estill, 35, 419 Scott St., Lima; nonsupport of dependents.

May 3

Steven K. Sheeks, 54, 21607 Road A, Continental, pleaded no contest to attempted intimidation of a witness and aggravated possession of drugs. He faces up to 30 months in prison and $7,500 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for May 20 at 11 a.m.

According to court records, Sheeks is accused of knowingly making threats of physical violence against a female on Jan. 28, if she was to be a witness in a criminal case against him while on a phone call at the Putnam County Jail. The second charge stated that on June 16, 2020, Sheeks did knowingly possess a trace amount of methamphetamine while in Putnam County.

San Juanita Baldazo, Leipsic, was granted a divorce from Mark F. Morning, Columbus Grove. They were married July 2, 2012 in Dallas, Texas, and have no children.

May 4

Amberlynn R. Parker, 36, 74 W. Main St., Leipsic, was placed on five years community control for violating community control. The violations included failing to contact her supervising officer as required and changing residences without permission. Parker was placed on five years community control, must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all counseling and treatment recommended. She was originally convicted of domestic violence.

May 6

Dylan B. Okuley, 25, 1035 Heritage Trail, Ottawa, was granted judicial release and referred to the WORTH Center program. He was placed on five years community control, must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all treatment and counseling recommended. He had been convicted of attempted felonious assault and domestic violence.

April 30

Cameron L. Moore, 23, 35 E. Kibby St., Lima, pleaded guilty to resisting arrest. Sentence: 90 days jail, $100 fine. He also pleaded guilty to obstructing official business. Sentence: 90 days jail with sentences to run concurrently.

May 4

Greg L. Benroth, 50, 100 W. Washington St., Mount Cory, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 150 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, three-year license suspension, and complete a drug and alcohol assessment. Charges of OVI and speeding were dismissed.

Michael V. Niese, 64, 8777 Road I-7, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless operation. Sentence: $150 fine. A charge of stop sign was dismissed.

Kate S. Clay, 35, 1939 N. Defiance St., Lot 21, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to domestic violence. Sentence: 10 days jail, suspended, $100 fine and complete anger management counseling.
