WAPAKONETA — First on the Moon, Inc., announced the launch of its newest competition, the “Art Around Town” contest. The organization seeks submissions of original art that will be installed on the utility box on Perry Street near Anthony’s Restaurant. First on the Moon plans to have the art produced and installed on the utility box by the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing in July.
The contest is open to all ages, with submissions accepted Thursday through June 1. In addition to having the art displayed on a public utility box, the winning artist will receive a basket of gifts from First on the Moon partners, including the Armstrong Air & Space Museum, Riverside Art Center, Auglaize County Historical Society, Grand Lake Visitors Region, and more.
Entries must include the name, complete address, and phone number of the artist. Free templates are available at Riverside Art Center for assistance in design. The utility box measures 46.5 inches wide, 72 inches high and 26 inches deep.
Submissions may be mailed to or dropped off at Riverside Art Center, 3 W. Auglaize Street, Wapakoneta, Ohio 45895 (phone: 419/738-2352).
