Alcohol suspected in Putnam County fatal crash

PUTNAM COUNTY — The Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash that claimed the life of an Ottawa man.

According to a news release, at 3:56 a.m. Saturday, Landon M. Bailey, 16, was southbound on state Route 109, just north of Road X, when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle re-entered the roadway, crossed the road and went off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned several times, ejecting the front seat passenger before coming to rest on its top.

Bailey was taken to Ottawa Ambulatory Mercy Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger, Jagguare M. Rich, 18, of Ottawa was also transported to Ottawa Ambulatory Mercy Health and was pronounced dead by Putnam County Coroner Jennifer Maag.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.

It is not known if Bailey was wearing a seatbelt or not.

They do not believe that Rich’s seatbelt was in use at the time of the crash.
