LIMA — A fire of undetermined origin at a duplex in Lima Thursday caused $35,000 in damage and displaced the resident of an upstairs apartment.
According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, a call was received at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters said flames were coming through a first-floor window. The fire had spread into the upstairs apartment before it was extinguished.
The American Red Cross was contacted to help find temporary lodging for the upstairs resident.
The home, owned by Don Daley, sustained $30,000 in damage, while damage to the contents of the structure were listed at $5,000. The downtown portion of the home was vacant.
The origin of the fire is still under investigation.
