LIMA — Mercy Health on Thursday blessed its new specialized therapy office on Market Street, which opened for physical therapy and pelvic-area procedures after long-time Lima physical therapist Amy Edwards brought her practice to Mercy Health.
Edwards has practiced physical therapy for 13 years, focusing on therapies for patients suffering from a variety of pelvic conditions like incontinence, constipation, lower back pain and pelvic organ prolapse, a condition in which the organs shift out of place, before joining Mercy Health.
Her work has also helped patients prep and recover from hysterectomies, prostatectomies and reconstructive surgeries, and with women recovering from prenatal or postpartum complications.
“In those cases,” Edwards said, “we can really augment the surgical outcomes and create a better quality of life for patients.”
Mercy Health held a blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon to recognize Edwards’ office, now located at 825 W. Market St.
