VAN WERT - This 1969 Dodge Dart GT is owned by Chuck and Michelle Taylor of Van Wert. They’ve owned the car since March of 2017. Taylor showed his car this past July at the Gary Allen Memorial Classic Car Cruz-In held at Tom’s Auto Detail in Lima.
“I have a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, but my wife saw this on the site and she liked the color. I called and got it,” said Taylor.
The car was originally an Oklahoma car, but Taylor bought it in Wisconsin.
The first Dodge Darts were introduced for the 1960 model year. The Dodge Dart GT was the most luxurious of the Darts and had the most complete list of standard and optional equipment for the 1969 model year. Dodge sold nearly 200,000 Dodge Darts in 1969 and 5,902 of those were Dodge Dart GT’s.
Taylor’s Dart features a 340 cubic inch engine and includes an automatic transmission.
Taylor stated the man he purchased the car from had done all of the body and paint work.
“It took him several years to do it,” said Taylor.
The main reason the man was selling the car was because he had to have shoulder surgery.
Selling the car took its toll on the man, as Taylor said the man had tears in his eyes as Taylor loaded it up and took it home.
