Two face intimidation charges in Putnam County


OTTAWA — Two men face intimidation of a witness charges after they were indicted by the Putnam County Grand Jury on Thursday.

Steven K. Sheeks, 64, of Ottawa, faces charges of intimidation of a witness in a criminal case and aggravated possession of drugs.

According to court records, Sheeks is accused of knowingly making threats of physical violence against a female Jan. 28 if she was to be a witness in a criminal case against him. He allegedly said this while on a phone call at the Putnam County Jail. The charge is a felony of the third degree. The second charge stated that on June 16, 2020, Sheeks knowingly possessed a trace amount of methamphetamine while in Putnam County.

Matthew T. Harpe, 47, of Findlay, also faces a charge of intimidation of a witness in a criminal case and domestic violence.

According to court records, Harpe is accused of knowingly making threats of physical violence against “Jane Doe” on Jan. 25, who is the victim in a domestic violence case filed against him “by threatening to get her and kill her for calling the police on him.” The charge is a felony of the third degree.
