Crash report finds dark roadways, impaired drivers and suicide behind fatalities in 2020


LIMA — There were 10 fatal crashes and 10 traffic-related fatalities in Allen County in 2020, according to Allen County’s fatal crash summary report released on Thursday.

Six of those crashes occurred on state or federal highways, including two on state Route 309, while four additional fatal crashes occurred on city or county roads last year. The report found that 70% of the fatal crashes took place after dark, higher than previous years. While 60% of the crashes involved drugs or alcohol, the report found that 30% involved suicide.
