FAIRBORN — Tom Narramore, of Fairborn, has owned this 1962 Ford Galaxie for 24 years.
“I just liked it,” Narramore said. “Some people call this a post car.”
His car features a 390 engine and is a four-speed. It was originally a three speed on the column, but Narramore changed it.
“Other than that, everything is all original,” Narramore said.
The color is “Attitude Black.”
The Ford Galaxie was produced from 1959 through 1974. Ford was appealing to the excitement of the space race with its Galaxie model name.
The Galaxie’s competitor was Chevy’s Impala.
Ford discontinued the tail fin for the 1962 model year,. giving the car a softer look.
Narramore enjoys driving his Galaxie.
“It runs great. If I keep my foot out of the four-barrel, it does good on gas, “ Narramore said. “We drive it everywhere.”
