WAPAKONETA — A Wapakoneta man was taken into custody Tuesday after discharging a weapon while allegedly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

According to a report from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 3:24 a.m. Tuesday to the report of gunfire in the southeast area of Clay Township. A resident reported that a home security camera captured video of a neighbor coming onto his property and then leaving. A short time later, multiple gunshots could be heard from a nearby wooded area, according to the statement.

When deputies arrived they could still hear the gunfire coming from a residence that sits on a wooded lot. Deputies attempted contact with the homeowner, but the male refused to come out or speak with deputies. Due to a weapon already being fired and the homeowner appearing to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the Auglaize County Special Response Team responded to the scene.

After several hours, Scott Daisy, 39, exited the residence and was placed into custody. He was charged with using a weapon while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor, and transported to the Auglaize County jail, where he was being housed under $25,000 bond. He entered a plea of not guilty later that morning in Auglaize County Municipal Court.

The incident is currently under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, St. Marys EMS, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and St. Johns Fire and EMS.
