AMERICAN TOWNSHIP — Two Allen County residents are dead after a pickup truck crashed into their home in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Michele Brockert, 52, and Jon Brockert, 57, were pronounced dead at their residence at 3700 Gomer Road following the single-vehicle mishap.
The incident took place at approximately 1:33 a.m. Wednesday when Joshua May, 29, of Lima, reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel of his 2013 Ford F-150. May was northbound on Eastown Road and traveled through a T-intersection with Gomer Road. The pickup continued north into the residence.
The Brockerts were inside the home at the time of the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. May was treated and released at the scene. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the patrol.
Assisting at the scene were the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, American Township Fire and EMS, Ables Towing and Swartz Contracting and Emergency Services.
The incident remains under investigation.
