LIMA — Stock + Field on Cable Road will close later this year, becoming the latest major retailer to vacate a storefront in Lima.
Stock + Field Chairman and CEO Matthew Whebbe confirmed that the farm supply and outdoor retailer will close all 25 of its stores, which rebranded from Big R Stores in 2019.
That image refresh was not enough: On Sunday, the Minnesota-based company filed for bankruptcy.
Whebbe issued a statement Sunday explaining that the company was “not immune” to the “many challenges in 2020.” While he did not specify when stores will close, Whebbe said Stock + Field stores will sell their merchandise at “massive discounts” in the weeks to come.
Stock + Field is located where the old Wal-Mart store used to be in Clocktower Plaza. The building became open when Wal-Mar relocated to Allentown Road.
Stock + Field’s only other Ohio store is located in Findlay.
