ELIDA — A Lima man taken into custody Monday evening as the suspect in a shooting incident that left a woman injured has been cleared by authorities of any wrong-doing.
Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Monday to a residence on Irvin Road in Elida in reference to a female being shot. Deputies upon their arrival found the female, whose name was not released, suffering from a single gunshot wound. The female was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in stable condition.
Anthony J. Stalter, 27, was initially taken into custody on a preliminary charge of suspicion of felonious assault. Authorities released him from custody Tuesday with no charges filed. A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said the investigation “at this time shows the gunshot wound was self-inflicted and accidental.”
