FIVE DEATHS IN REGION
The Ohio Department of Health reported five new deaths attributed to COVID-19 in its numbers released at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Allen County had one new death, an 83-year-old male.
Auglaize County had two new deaths, according to state statistics, but it had self-reported those deaths Wednesday.
Putnam County had one new death. The newest death there was Nov. 25, for a woman older than 80 who had an onset date of Oct. 25 and had been hospitalized.
Hardin County had one new death. Its newest death was Nov. 25, involving a woman in her 60s who had an onset date of Nov. 16 and was hospitalized a day later.
• All of the counties in the region are red (level 3) public emergencies with very high exposure and spread, according to the Ohio Public Health Advisory System. The state now has eight purple (level 4) counties: Medina, Lake, Lorain, Montgomery, Portage, Richland, Stark and Summit counties. That’s up from four last week.
• The pop-up COVID-19 testing site in Lima will be moved indoors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the University of Northwestern Ohio’s Event Center, 1450 N. Cable Road, Lima.
• Ottoville schools will return to face-to-face learning for all grades, kindergarten through 12, starting Monday.
• Miller City-New Cleveland schools will resume in-person instruction for sixth through 12th grades, starting Monday, noting a decrease in the number of students and staff affected by positive cases, according to a letter from Superintendent Kerry Johnson.
