LIMA — Mothers Against Drunk Driving — in partnership with Lima Memorial Health System and the Lima Allen County Safe Community Coalition — kicked off its annual Red Ribbon Campaign Tuesday during a press event Thursday.
Through the program, motorists tie a red MADD ribbon to their vehicles to encourage safe driving.
The event also highlighted the increased law enforcement scheduled for the Thanksgiving holiday. Both the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol have planned for overtime enforcement from Nov. 16 to 29.
“We want to remind area residents about the risks of impaired driving. It is our hope that residents of Allen, Hardin and Putnam counties will show their commitment to this important cause,” MADD Allen-Hardin-Putnam Community Action Team Coordinator Pam Styer said in a press release. “Tie a MADD ribbon on your vehicle to show your commitment to driving safe and sober.”
