LIMA — Police on Thursday declined to identify a 16-year-old male who was shot and killed Wednesday evening in Lima.

A statement released by the Lima Police Department on Thursday morning noted police were called at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of South Scott Street in response to a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers found a 16-year-old male had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

Several witnesses were interviewed, and a person of interest was located. At the time, detectives followed up leads and reviewed evidence in the case. A department spokesman Thursday said no additional information would be released.

A spokeswoman with the Allen County Coroner’s Office said the body was sent to Lucas County for an autopsy, the preliminary results of which were expected back on Friday.
