LIMA — Mercy Health-St. Rita’s is working with HCF Management to alleviate crowding in the hospital’s COVID-19 transitional care unit.

HCF Management Director of Operations Tara Sibert said the company, which operates skilled nursing, rehabilitation and assisted living facilities in Lima and northwest Ohio, has built a COVID-19 isolation unit for patients in recovery who require more intense care. That unit is now being used to help St. Rita’s move patients who are transitioning from the hospital but who still require assistance.

“In this unit, and all throughout the care community, we follow very strict isolation and precaution protocols to prevent spread of the virus,” Sibert said in a press release on Friday. “All developed under the requirements and guidance from the local and state health departments, Centers for Disease Control, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.”
