LIMA — The Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program, which helps low-income Ohioans pay heating bills, is now open for applications through March 31.
More than 1,490 families throughout Allen, Auglaize and Mercer counties took advantage of the program last year, and this year, officials are expecting an increased need due to the pandemic.
Under the program, eligible households can receive a payment for their main heating source and/or their secondary hearing source. The program can also assist with fuel tank placement, fuel tank testing and furnace repair depending on the applicant’s income.
