McColley, Huffman cosponsor bill to repeal alcohol curfew

COLUMBUS — State Sens. Matt Huffman, R-Lima, and Rob McColley, R-Napoleon, have signed on as cosponsors of legislation introduced Friday to repeal the Ohio Liquor Control Commission’s emergency rule banning the sale of alcohol at bars and restaurants after 10 p.m.

The rule also prohibits the consumption of alcohol at those establishments after 11 p.m., which McColley said puts bars and restaurants at risk of bankruptcy and permanent closure.

“It’s long past time that we remove the boot of government off the neck of our restaurant industry and give these small business owners a chance to survive,” McColley said in a statement Friday.
