LIMA ROTARY TO HEAR FROM POLIO SURVIVOR
Lima, OH - Brenda Ferguson contracted polio in 1954 at the age of 3 1/2 and spent a lot of time in the hospital before she was allowed to go home. It was nearly impossible for her to get the necessary therapy since her family did not have a car. The Lima Rotary Club will hear her story on Monday, October 19 as she and her husband Bob join the meeting via Zoom from their home in Tallmage in honor of World Polio Day, which is October 24. Since 1988, Rotary International has been dedicating money, time and resources to eradicating polio. During the month of October, the Lima Rotary Club is collecting donations to work toward this goal.
At this time, there are only 125 known cases of polio in the world.
The Lima Rotary Club meets in the North Hall of the Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center at 7 Town Square at noon every Monday.
