K-12 mask civil suit moved from Putnam court to Franklin County

OTTAWA — A civil lawsuit seeking to overturn Ohio’s mask mandate in kindergarten through 12th grade in public schools has been transferred out of Putnam County Common Pleas Court to Franklin County at the request of interim Ohio Department of Health Director Lance Himes, a defendant in the case.

Putnam County’s court denied the plaintiffs’ request to keep the case in Putnam County.

The case was brought by more than 20 Ohioans, including a Leipsic woman, who claimed the state’s mask order for K-12 students violates religious liberties, parental rights and other constitutional claims.
