ELIDA — The Elida school board passed a resolution Tuesday night seeking the annexation of 40.036 acres of land into the Village of Elida.
The move fulfills a deal made back in April between the school district and the Village of Elida.
Under that agreement, the school board agreed to allow the annexation of the new elementary school property, and the Village of Elida agreed to a 10-year tax abatement. In return, the new elementary school site would be hooked up to Elida water and sewer lines.
Teachers and staff working in the building won’t have to pay Elida village income tax for a decade.
The annexation petition will be submitted to the Allen County commissioners, and they will set a hearing date to consider the petition.
